Grey County OPP say the crash happened about 2:15 PM Monday afternoon on Tom Thompson Lane just outside the village of Leith.
The impact broke the pole and interrupted power in the area for a short period of time.
OPP closed the road for several hours while they investigated.
The 56 year-old driver, who was the only one in the truck, was taken to Grey Bruce Health Services-Owen Sound by Grey County E.M.S. where he was later pronounced dead.
An Ontario Hydro crew attended to make the scene safe as officers worked and as the vehicle was removed.
The identity of the deceased man is being withheld pending further
notifications of next-of-kin.
Grey County O.P.P. is continuing to investigate.
Anyone with information that might assist is asked to contact the detachment.
