GE Security Employees in Owen Sound recently took part in a two week in-house Christmas collection which will benefit local charities.
Executive Administrator Teresa Kellough says they managed to collect almost 3 thousand items of food, more than 500 toys and 700 dollars for a local women’s shelter.
Kellough says one wing of the plant held a raffle and raised almost 4 thousand dollars with the United Steelworkers union matching them dollar for dollar.
That allowed them to purchase food and toys.
The Owen Sound Fire department picked up the toys this week.
The food will go to the Salvation Army.
