Bluewater District school board officials have some explaining to do to parents.
The board held a meeting in Chesley on April 1st… where it outlined plans to move from rotary education to non-rotary teaching.
Instead of having students go from classroom to classroom for instruction from teachers who are specialists in their subject areas, they would have a homeroom teacher who would teach most subjects.
Several parents in Saugeen Shores want answers.
Concerned Parent Roxy Angel says they are holding a public meeting May 21st at the CAW family education centre in Port Elgin.
Angel says they want answers to why the board wants to move to non-rotary teaching, who will pay any added costs, and why the board has presented this as a done deal with no input from parents or teachers.
Angel says it appears a consultant to the Bluewater board has suggested the major change, but she wonders if it is a solution developed in Toronto … which doesn’t translate well in Grey and Bruce counties.
The meeting of Concerned Parents is planned for 7pm on the 21st.
