While no motion has been circulated yet, councillors are supportive of plans by the Town of Fort Erie near Niagara Falls to create a task force to lobby the province to keep beds and emergency rooms in small hospitals open.
Mayor Mitch Twolan is aware of concerns about service cuts at the Kincardine hospital and says many township residents also rely on the Wingham hospital.
Twolan says hospitals are important to the community and the people have told him that.
He says strong hospitals are the kind of thing councils should be supporting and he hopes more municipalities get involved.
Twolan says a lot of people are concerned about cuts to services at hospitals close to where they live.
