A Meaford area world traveller is glad to be back.
Frank Bassingthwaite, his wife Janet and a handful of other area residents arrived home from Thailand on Friday night.
Bassingthwaite says it’s nice to be back and the white stuff on the ground looks fine to him.
Also stranded in Bangkok Thailand were Bassingthwaite’s wife Janet, fellow Meaford residents Don and Marigay Wilson and Ron and Carolyn Mills, and Kincardine residents John A. and Arla Dahmer.
They were there for about eight days longer than expected.
Bassingthwaite says they had to go on a three hour bus-ride south of Bangkok to a regional airport Thursday and flew to Hong Kong.
They stayed overnight in Hong Kong and left Friday, getting to Toronto in the evening.
The Meaford resident gives credit to the Canadian Embassy personnel and MP Larry Miller for helping them get out.
The area residents were in a group of 82 on a tour.
