Fifteen-year-old Kristen O’Neil is in Hamilton’s McMaster University Hospital undergoing treatment for a type of viral cancer and a fund-raiser is on tonight to help her out.
Laurie Smith’s daughter is friends with Kristen, and she wants to help out the family.
Smith says not only is Kristen in hospital, but her dad is waiting for back surgery as well.
She says Kristen’s mom just started a new job, but had to quit to be with Kristen after her diagnosis.
According to Smith, Kristen has had a rough go, with many infections.
A fundraiser is being held tonight in the upstairs portion of the Coliseum.
The doors open at 8 PM.
There will be live music and a silent auction, with leaf tickets, and golf clubs included in the items up for bids.
A special fund has also been set up at the T-D bank under the name “Kristen O’Neill Fundraiser”.
