After two votes were counted without a majority revealed at today’s (THURS) county council meeting – South Bruce Mayor Bill Goetz won a majority on the third ballot.
Goetz was running against Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato.
While Goetz is new to municipal politics – he has only served one year as a mayor and county councillor – he says he has lots of experience.
Goetz says his 20 years on the school board, including 6 terms as vice chair and 6 terms as chair, will serve him well in his new position.
Goetz says priorities for his term as warden include the farm rebate tax and a continued tone of cooperation between Grey and Huron Counties and First Nations.
Goetz also says during these tough economic times he will try to keep a tight grip on the purse strings and maybe put off things like road projects, unless there is dire need.
