It’s Opening Day at provincial parks across Southern Ontario.
Rservations can be made up to 5 months in advance with the cost of each reservation $11.85.
There are 114 operating parks in the province and 43 of them have alcohol bans in effect from now until the end of the Victoria Day weekend May 19th.
That alcohol ban covers several parks in our immediate area: Inverhuron, MacGregor Point, and Sauble Falls .
The ban also covers one of the most popular provincial parks, the Pinery, in the Grand Bend area.
Acting Operations Manager for Ontario Parks, John Salo says there is a lot of prep work involved behind the scenes to get the parks ready for today’s opening.
He says if you have a cottage and know what is involved in opening it up for the season, just multiply that several times for the parks.
