A 26 thousand dollar study the town commissioned recommended over 600 thousand dollars worth of improvements be made–which would end up saving the municipality money on energy costs.
Council will consider the upgrades during the 2009 budget talks.
Government grant money could also be available to cover the costs.
They have already decided the town will oversee the upgrades themselves, instead of having them supervised by the consultants who did the report.
Councillor Victoria Serda is pleased with the plan.
She says the improvements will end up reducing costs to the municipality and greenhouse gas emissions.
Serda says Saugeen Shores will save even more money by carrying out the improvements on its own too.
