On Soundingboard this morning Huron Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb says it’s incredible that a potential coalition between the Liberals and the NDP, with Liberal leader Stephane Dion at the helm, would even be considered.
Lobb says Dion is not even wanted by his own party and he says in the last election campaign he sensed that Dion was the “Achilles Heel” for the Liberals they’ve had in decades.
Lobb says he hopes some cooler head Liberals come forward and realize that any coalition with the NDP and the special deal with the Bloc Quebecois is a bad deal for Canada and especially rural Canada.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound Conservative MP Larry Miller echoes the same thoughts.
He would like to see parliament prorogue until January 26th, then wait for the finance minister’s budget on January 27th and then if the opposition wants to force the coalition hand, then “so be it.”
Meanwhile, former Liberal MP for Huron Bruce Paul Steckle who retired before the last election, says the current house has lost its confidence in the leader and no proroguing is going to change that.
Steckle says it’s time for a coalition government to have a chance to form the government.
