Flying squirrels are invading the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton today.
Program Coordinator Nancy White says two northern squirrels and their handler Steve Patterson will be highlighted at the Bruce Gallery.
White says for many, it’s the first time they will see the creatures, as they are nocturnal.
Flying squirrels don’t actually fly.
They have a flap of skin in their arm fold that allows them to glide for quite a ways through the skies from tree to tree.
White says in July, they are bringing in an exhibit called Earth’s Climate and the balance.
It deals with how climate change is affecting habitat.
She says the squirrel show today, leads nicely into that coming attraction.
You can see Sabrina and Scooter the flying squirrels at 2 this afternoon.
Admission is 5 dollars for members, 7 dollars for non members.
