The Walmart store in Owen Sound is proposing a 40 thousand square foot expansion.
City council has approved the first step which is to call a public meeting to discuss a change in zoning so the store can expand.
If approved — the expanded store will feature fresh and frozen foods, wider aisles, and improvements to the garden centre.
Local farmers and producers will also supply goods for a new “Grown in Grey Bruce” section in the store’s grocery department.
The public meeting is scheduled for December 1st.
The proposal does not mention the creation of any jobs.
The dollar figures for the renovations have not been released.
