Nagg’s Bridge, spanning the Saugeen River on Concession 10 in the former Brant Township, is getting an overhaul.
The chair of the Bruce County Highways Committee Ron Oswald says a vote to approve the replacement of the 95 year old bridge was made last week in a recorded vote.
Oswald says this decision has been in the making for 10-years now and it was time.
All county councillors voted in favour of replacing the bridge at a cost of up to 4-million-dollars.
Oswald says the new bridge will also have a new alignment when work begins sometime next year.
There has been some controversy surrounding this bridge from those who wanted a new span built just north on Concession 12.
Oswald says he has received no negative comment on last week’s decision.
He says the current bridge on Concession 12 will be repaired as best they can but the Nagg’s Bridge will be replaced entirely.
