The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is celebrating another successful Light the Way Radiothon and would like to thank the people of Saugeen Shores and surrounding communities for coming together to support local healthcare.
This year’s Radiothon, hosted on Bayshore Broadcasting’s 97.9 The Bruce, raised $200,000 to support four digital systems that are essential to patient care; including pacemaker monitoring, patient and bed movement and digital imaging. For 12 hours, listeners tuned in, shared stories, made pledges and showed just how much local healthcare matters in our region.
Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation says in a statement, “We are so grateful to everyone who picked up the phone, went online, or dropped by in person to give,” adding, “Radiothon is much more than a fundraiser. It is a day where our community’s love for its hospital and the Brightshores health system is on full display, and that translates directly into better care close to home.”
Murray says, “We would like to thank 97.9 The Bruce and their on-air team and behind the scenes staff for dedicating a full day of programming to highlight patient stories, healthcare workers, volunteers and donors,” adding, “97.9 The Bruce helps us tell the stories that connect people’s hearts to their hospital.”
Murray noted, “Their enthusiasm and energy on the air create the momentum that makes Radiothon such a special day for our community.”
She also thanked Bruce Telecom for providing the Radiothon phone lines, making it easy for callers to make their gifts and share messages of support.
Foundation Board Chair Martha Bennett says, “Whether it was 20 dollars, 200 dollars or 2,000 dollars, every gift is part of this success,” adding, “Together, our community helped ensure that our hospitals can continue to invest in the equipment and technology that teams rely on every day to care for patients.”
Murray says, “Our gratitude extends to every volunteer and supporter who helped bring Radiothon to life. This is truly a community effort, and we are honoured to be the bridge between local generosity and quality local healthcare.”
