A year of planning comes together tonight in Owen Sound’s downtown.
The 21st Annual Festival of Northern Lights will be switched on this evening, illuminating the city’s downtown and Harrison Park.
Chairperson Ann Kelly says the festival continues to grow, with an additional 41 displays this year.
Kelly says volunteers have been busy working on the displays since last year’s festival ended.
She says there will many things for the children to watch for this year, including a Spiderman in one of the trees.
She’s not disclosing where it is.
Tonight’s festivities get underway at the bandshell, and Kelly recommends that people arrive by 6 PM.
There will not be a torchlight parade this year.
Kelly says the events begin with the Owen Sound City Band and a carol sing.
She says Klash the clown will be on hand for the kids.
After the countdown and the illuminating of the lights, charitable vendors will be on hand at the market building, and Kelly says there will also be carriage rides, and wandering carolers.
