Mayor Charlie Bagnato says council has decided to put the whole issue of a new OPP policing off until then when council can decide how to pay for the increase costs of almost 300 thousand dollars.
The Mayor admits in order to do that, council will have to rob peter to pay paul, that money will have to be cut from different department to meet the increased cost of policing.
Bagnato says the last agreement ran out Oct. 18th, but they are operating for up to 6 months under the old terms until a new contract is signed.
He says increasing taxes is not an option and cuts to services is really the only option that council now has.
Bagnato says such areas like road repairs, recreation, doctor recruitment will suffer to meet the additional cost of policing.
He says setting up or using another municipalities police forceĀ is also out of the question as neither West Grey, Hanover or Saugeen Shores expressed any interest in taking Brockton under its wing.
