The MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound wonders if Ontario’s Premier will soon appoint a Minister on Banning.
Bill Murdoch made the comments in the legislature last week during a vote on a private members bill to ban the sale of plastic bottles of water.
Murdoch voted against the bill and it was defeated.
Murdoch says he didn’t support the proposal because it would have devastated a water bottling company in Feversham.
Ice River Springs employs about 250 people and Murdoch says many of those jobs would have been lost if the bill became law.
Murdoch would rather see the province put a ten cent deposit on plastic water bottles to ensure they are recycled.
The Independent MPP wonders what the provincial government will try to ban next.
Murdoch notes the government already plans to ban talking on cellphones while driving.
Murdoch — who admits he is one of the biggest abusers — says the proposed bill has merit.
But he questions how the government will enforce the new rules.
