Slick roads and lake-effect squalls forced many vehicles into the ditch in Southern Grey County this morning.
Race car driver Kelly Williams is the spokesperson for Car Care Canada and reminds motorists there are important maintenance measures to take this time of year.
In the past, Williams raced at Sauble Speedway.
Williams is reminding people to use proper winter tires, and check the tire’s air pressure.
Other areas to have checked are the vehicle’s brakes and windshield wipers.
She says another important aspect of winter driving is having an emergency kit in the trunk for use in the event of a break-down.
Williams says the kit should contain first aid items, but also a blanket and something to eat.
Williams reminds people not to go below half-tank when it comes to gassing up.
She says a low level in the gas tank can cause condensation but she says more importantly, people need to have the fuel to keep the car warm if they get stranded.
