Owen Sound’s best in business have been honoured at the 18th Annual Business Excellence Awards.
The Owen Sound & District Chamber of Commerce celebrated business success with a night of dinner, awards and a bit of magic.
52 businesses from Owen Sound and surrounding area were nominated in various categories — from new business to customer service to environmental stewardship.
Chamber Awards Chair David Moyer says they received more nominations this year than ever before.
All nominated businesses filled out an application and were judged by a Chamber of Commerce from out of town.
The Business of the Year award over 25 employees went to St. Clair Technologies.
The Business of the Year award under 25 employees went to Locking Business Machine and Safe Works.
The Candy Store won New Business of the Year while Prettie Portraits was recognized for its Community Service.
The Customer Service honour went to Douglas Cleaners.
The Alzheimer’s Society received the Special Merit for their work within the community.
Jame Bunt was recognized as top Young Entrepreneur for his outdoor maintenance business in Oliphant.
The Environmental Stewardship Award went to Sun Volts Unlimited.
A number of Length of Service awards were also handed out — Wightman Telecom was honoured for 100 years of business.
The night concluded with entertainment from Canadian Illusionist Brian Micheals.
Micheals was the opening act on Celine Dion’s “Let’s Talk About Love” Tour.
