Jim Wilson exploded in the Ontario legislature today after being told he’d have to pay 125 dollars to see his dermatologist — a charge he says is illegal.
Simcoe Grey Conservative MPP Jim Wilson says his dermatologist’s office charged him 125 dollars to schedule an appointment because he didn’t have a referral from a family doctor.
Like hundreds of thousands of other Ontarians, Wilson doesn’t have a family physician.
Health Minister David Caplan responded to Wilson’s questions in the legislature by saying previous Conservative governments closed hospitals and fired nurses.
That prompted an angry rant from Wilson.
The Simcoe Grey Conservative says the Liberal government should be ashamed that some people are being blocked from accessing health care because they can’t afford to pay for it.
The government says if people are being told to pay fees that are banned under the Canada Health Act — they should contact the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons.
