Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell has found a new way to bring a new doctor to this area…marry one.
The Mayor has announced that wedding bells will sound in the city on June 21 when she and Brantford Doctor Bruce Stanners will exchange vows in a private family ceremony.
Lovell says her fianc will be practicing medicine here in Owen Sound, but its unclear yet just what type of practice he will open.
The Mayor jokes this is the ultimate in physician recruitment.
She says they used to be neighbours and keep in touch when Stanners moved to practice medicine in Brantford.
They have been been seeing each other for the past several years, and it was a few months ago they decided to tie the knot.
Lovell jokes while she supports the concept of the city clerk now being able to perform marriage ceremony’s, she will be married by a minister in her home.
