As of the end of September — the OPP in Bruce and Grey Counties already investigated more than 200 crashes involving wildlife.
But October, November and December are typically the busiest months for these investigations.
Police have issued a number of tips for motorists.
Slow down and watch your speed — especially at night — and make sure you drive with your high beams.
Watch for the glowing eyes of animals.
Constantly scan from shoulder to shoulder.
Never swerve suddenly to avoid an animal and be aware of hot spots for wildlife around the region.
Grey County OPP Constable Steve Starr says deer like to be near water or swamp land and in a bush area.
Just last weekend — Grey County OPP investigated 10 motor vehicle crashes — all of them involved deer or wildlife.
