Renovations are almost complete on the construction project.
Officials say the simulators are like a mini IMAX and are so advanced that captains will be able to experience navigating a new ship in any harbour before actually going there.
Vice President of External Relations at Georgian College, Bob Kennedy says the 8.5 million dollar, 20 thousand square foot marine training facility will officially open November 21st.
Kennedy says most of the money for the project has already come in, and at this point the College is only 1.3 million dollars short of the money needed for the project.
Over 7 million dollars came in from Transport Canada, the provincial government, Georgian College and Ontario’s marine shipping industry.
Some 150 Marine program students will use the new equipment on a weekly basis.
People who work in the marine industry will also have access to the facility.
Kennedy expects about 300 people at the open house next month.
