More and more farms in Grey County are going green to protect the environment.
Grey County Agricultural Services Representative Ray Robertson says in fact the County has one of the higher participation rates in the whole province.
He says more than two thousand farmers have attended Environmental Farm Plan workshops and when they finish the two day workshops they have a really comprehensive plan for the farm.
Robertson says those plans identify any potential risks they may have on the farm and it also points out areas where they are doing a very good job in protecting the environment.
He says the workshops also provide instruction on how to progress through the Risk Assessment and Action Plan development
Robertson says the Risk Assessment gives farmers an opportunity to rate the current level of environmental concern in up to 23 different areas on the farm.
He says now most of the harvest is complete is the time when more farmers will take the time to attend the environmental Farm Plan workshops.
Robertson says that allows time over the winter to develop the plan to implement when the spring rolls around.
Another workshop takes place in Grey County October 29th and in Bruce Counties on November 7th and 14th.
