As it stands right now, this is the last term of office for the mayor of Arran Elderslie.
Speaking on Soundingboard during Local Government Week Ron Oswald confirmed he’s had enough and it’s time to let someone else head the municipality.
Oswald said he’s enjoyed his time serving the public and still has two years to go but will not run in the next election.
On other issues, Oswald says Arran Elderslie continues to talk with officials at Bruce County about the apparent delays to zoning applications.
He says even discussing the changes has been slow in that he was dealing with this same issue as Warden of Bruce County two years ago.
Oswald says a lot of people want zoning applications and the like to be done yesterday but there is still a lot of paperwork to be done so that development can move ahead.
He says some new people have been added to the county staff and he expects to see an improvement in the approval of zoning applications in the near future.
The issue was recently discussed at Arran Elderslie council after complaints were received about the service at the county level.
Oswald also predicts that his municipality could be going to the election of councillors at-large rather than in a ward system.
He says several municipalities are looking at the change for the next municipal election in two years.
No public meetings on the matter have been scheduled in Arran Elderslie.
