The downturn in the economy was a hot topic at the Annual General Meeting for Bruce County’s Federation of Agriculture.
But despite the lingering threat of a recession over the country, members were upbeat and ready to move forward for 2009.
Lorne Underwood was named the President of the Federation for the second year in a row.
He says they had a busy year with the International Plowing Match taking place in Teeswater, the federal election and a pilot project launching on bio-diesel production.
Underwood says his goal for the coming year is to have a meeting with officials from all levels of government.
He wants to identify the strengths and weaknesses of agriculture in Bruce County and get input from the government on their next steps.
Underwood says he was very impressed with the Federation’s Board of Directors over the past year.
He says they were all willing to help and offer advice towards ongoing problems.
