Council deliberated on that area during last Wednesday’s meeting.
The Municipality received over 721 thousand dollars through the Investing in Ontario Act Grant Program.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says over 250 thousand dollars will go towards the Huron Terrace Bridge project.
He says that one became a bigger project that it was first budgeted for because of wider sidewalks, putting up a foot bridge during construction, and other enhancements to the bridge.
75 thousand dollars will be put towards the signage program, 30 thousand for an airport fueling system, 70 thousand for the installation of a heating recovery unit and accessibility doors for the Tiverton Sports Complex, 25 thousand for an entranceway to the Davidson Centre, and 171 thousand dollars for work on Mahood Johnson Drive.
Kraemer says 100 thousand dollars will be used for a firefighter training facility.
He says the Municipality has committed 50 percent of that towards the project with the remaining amount to be funded through a community partnership.
He anticipates companies like Enbridge and Suncor will contribute to the facility since the training would involve fire fighting and rescue at high tower structures like wind turbines.
All municipalities in Ontario received some funding from the Province at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa back in August.
