Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato has been a busy guy this past weekend.
Speaking on Soundingboard he told us he’s been getting a ton of calls from media and other officials in North Bay about the e-coli outbreak there.
Bagnato says he knows what they’re going through but they do have one advantage he and others in Walkerton didn’t have in 2000.
He says with the release of the health report on the e-coli tragedy, officials in North Bay now have some guidance as to how to handle the more than 140 recorded cases in that region.
Bagnato says he’s still smarting from the lack of follow-up he perceives from the recent listeria outbreak.
Bagnato was one of the most outspoken people on this subject and called for an inquiry.
It was one of many subjects Bagnato was commenting on during Local Government Week.
He says there are exciting times ahead for Brockton.
Besides the Water Centre sod-turning recently, he is pleased to announce that 70 or 80 senior homes are being developed in Walkerton.
Bagnato says they lost dozens of seniors to Hanover because they didn’t have the accomodations.
He says now that some are being developed many of the former Walkerton residents says they are going to return to the community.
