The Owen Sound Attack have traded a defenceman ahead of his overage season in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Attack announced Tuesday morning James Petrovski, 19, is heading to the Peterborough Petes in exchange for four draft picks.
A 6-foot-3, 190-pound blueliner, Petrovski spent parts of three seasons with the Attack. He came to Owen Sound during the 2022-23 OHL season in a trade with the Flint Firebirds, after being a second round selection in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.
Petrovski was Owen Sound’s top-scoring defenceman during the 2024-25 campaign, putting up 41 points (4-37–40) in 68 games.
The draft picks the Attack are receiving from the Petes are Owen Sound’s own third-round selection in 2026, as well as Petes’ secound-, third- and fifth-round choices in 2027, 2029 and 2028 respectively.
“Today’s deal with the Petes provided us a good return for an (overage) player,” says Attack General Manager Dale DeGray in a team statement. “We were able to recoup draft picks we expended last week, while providing James with a new opportunity, which was something he was interested in us exploring. The Attack would like to thank James for his three years of commitment to the organization.”
More to come…
