The Community Foundation Grey Bruce is distributing over $217,000 in grants to 58 recipients across the region.
For this round of the organization’s spring community grants, the foundation increased the max amount for each grant to $5,000 and allowable administration expenses to 25 per cent of their project budget.
The foundation says the recipients of the grants includes a wide range of services, including arts and recreation, food security, and the environment.
Some of the recipients and their projects include:
-Big Brothers Big Sisters, offering an in-school mentoring project.
-Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce, supporting the community garden, supporting existing clients, and raising organizational resource awareness.
-Home and Community Support Services, launching a Reconciliation Journey to deliver informed, sensitive care for the indigenous community.
-Christmas on the Bay, event in Meaford will offer performances by adults with various abilities.
-Elephant Thoughts, working with Indigenous youth on their Bagida’waad Bunkie.
-The Sustainability Project, support Youth Climate Action Forum and Food Gleaning project to divert food waste.
-United Way of Bruce Grey, facilitating a Car Seat Safety and Adverse Childhood Experiences training for staff.
-Owen Sound Minor Baseball, offering a dedicated girl’s baseball team.
-Events for Life, provide accessible transportation an butterfly garden.
Foundation Executive Director Stuart Reid says, “every year the Foundation learns so much about what is happening in communities across Grey Bruce through our spring application intake.
