The Owen Sound Attack have added some grit and experience to their forward group.
The team announced Wednesday morning the acquisition of forward Jacob Therrien from the North Bay Battalion in exchange for a package of draft picks.
The Attack are sending the Battalion Kitchener’s third-round selection in 2026, and fifth- and second-round choices in 2028-29. A conditional fourth-round selection in 2029 is also heading up Highway 11.
Therrien, 19, scored 17 goals and 21 assists in 55 games for the Battalion during the 2024-25 Ontario Hockey League season. He also led North Bay with 90 penalty minutes.
“He’s a player our fans are going to really like,” says Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “He just plays really hard. And if you’ve been watching the (Stanley Cup) playoffs, Brad Marchand would come to mind. That type of player.”
“Jacob’s got a lot of skill. He plays hard. He plays fast. And he’s intense,” DeGray continues. “And he’s a bit of a ratty player, that gets under everybody’s skin. And that gets full respect from me, in how he goes about his business.”
The Courtice, Ont native is listed at 5-foot-8, and 170-pounds. Therrien was a third-round pick, 44th overall, of the Battalion in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.
