Four siblings from Bruce County are over $98,000 richer after playing LOTTO 6/49.
Ronald Mahon, Joyce Smith, Marie Jones and James Mahon from Saugeen Shores claimed their winnings in the April 12 draw.
The retirees are celebrating their win after the siblings kept their tradition of playing the lottery each week alive for the last three decades.
Ronald says, “When I saw that it was a big winner, I had to double-check. I may have let out a little scream too.”
After seeing his win, he called is siblings to share the news.
James says, “I thought he was messing with me and had trouble believing him at first.”
Jones adds they are all so fortunate to have won the prize.
“All these years of playing really paid off. I feel overjoyed,” says Jones.
Each sibling has their own plans for how they will spend their winnings.
While James plans to take his time to decide how to use the money, Jones is looking forward to buying a new washing machine and new furniture. Ronald plans to put his winnings in the bank, and Smith aims to buy a new mattress.
The winning ticket was purchased at Rexall on Albert Street South in Southampton.
