ONA bargaining representative, Sandy Rennick says after 16 hours of negotiating with a mediator a deal has been struck.
Rennick says the agreement came less than 24 hours before a strike deadline of 12:01am on Saturday.
The 51 nurses with the Grey Bruce health unit have been without a deal since the end of last year.
They last bargained with the employer on Sept. 8th, and union members turned down the last contract offer.
A ratification vote on this new deal will be held on Monday night by the union.
Rennick says the bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the package.
Details won’t be released before the Union, and employer ratify the package.
The main issues were wages and benefits — the same issues that led to a 10 week strike by health unit office and clerical staff in the Spring.
