Three teenagers have been injured – one critically – after falling from an Owen Sound escarpment wall. It happened about 12:40 this morning on the area known as the West Rocks, just across the street from West Hill secondary school.
Owen Sound Police Service, Fire and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the escarpment and found a gravely injured seventeen year old girl and two eighteen year old women who had also fallen off a rock face in the dark.
All three were rushed to the Grey Bruce Health Services.
The seventeen year old was subsequently airlifted to London Health Sciences.
Another female received serious back injuries while the 3rd victim suffered a fractured ankle.
This area is known as a social gathering spot for young people, despite the obvious dangers due to the treacherous terrain and darkness.
Two police officers were also injured slipping on wet rock while assisting in the rescue of the victims.
Both officers were treated and released at the Grey Bruce Health Services for leg and shoulder injuries.
No names have been released.
