Saugeen Shores police investigating the possibility that three people charged with marine offences, may know something about damage on Chantry Island.
The three, a 16 year old male from Sauble Beach and 18 year old female and 21 year old male, both from Barrie, were charged with being on Lake Huron in canoe without proper safety gear. Two were also charged with breaching release conditions.
In a police news release, it’s stated that members of the Marine Heritage Committee informed police of damage that was done to the structures out on the island on April 24th.
The committee provided them with photos of the damage and a description of same. A tool shed had been broken into and some tools taken out, a pick axe was used to damage the outside of the Boat House door, the privy was damaged, the tool shed was also damaged.
On the 1st of May police investigation revealed the three may be responsible for the damage.
Police continue their investigation.
