Joel Loughead will be the Green Party candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound in the next Ontario election.
The Grey Highlands councillor won the nomination at a Green Party riding association meeting at the Harmony Centre in Owen Sound Monday evening.
Loughead was one of two candidates, with the other being Natasha Akiwenzie.
Ontario Green Party Leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner was on hand for the announcement.
The province’s next election doesn’t have to be held until June 4, 2026, but political parties have been nominating candidates amid speculation Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative government could send Ontarians to the polls sometime in 2025.
Bayshore Broadcasting News has reached out to Loughead for an interview, and will update this story after receiving a response.
