And they’re off!!
The 2008 Cops for Cancer Campaign is now underway.
Canadian Cancer Society Bluewater Unit Manger Tamara Govier says they are looking to raise 260 thousand dollars this year.
Govier says people are eager to help this year, and they already have at least 15 people signed up to have their heads shaved.
She says the fundraiser is expanding beyond shaving heads, and now involves shaving legs, backs, eyebrows, and dying hair different colours.
Govier says many people with very long hair also donate their hair to be made into wigs for children receiving cancer treatment.
Shave-offs will begin almost immediately with the first scheduled for Monday at the Chesley high school.
Owen Sound’s large shave-off will be held in the parking lot of Bayshore Broadcasting on May 31st.
Organiser Jen Wiley of “The Salon” says it’s going to be really big, and they’re looking for more people to help do the actual shaving.
Money raised by the launch in Grey-Bruce is all directed to children’s cancer research.
