Grey Bruce OPP have arrested a suspect in relation to some residential break and enters in Wiarton.
OPP say, on Sunday, July 14th, they responded to two separate reports of a “dine and dash.”
They say they identified the suspect through video surveillance footage.
At about 10:30 that same night they received a complaint from a Gould Street resident that their garage was broken into and alcoholic beverages were stolen. Police say the accused was known to the complainant.
Then on Tuesday, July 16th, police received a call from a Dawson Street resident saying their garage had been broken into and alcoholic beverages were stolen. Police add the accused was known to that complainant as well.
Later on Tuesday, police say they received yet another call that a different garage was broken into and alcoholic beverages were stolen. In this case, OPP say the accused was known to the complainant who also said the suspect was located in a neighbour’s garage the same day.
A 39-year-old South Bruce Peninsula man was charged with:
Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence X3
Theft under $5000 X3
Possession property obtained by crime under $5000
Food and lodging fraud X2
