Saugeen Shores is playing host to the 2008 Rotary International District 6330 conference.
Things got underway Thursday with the District Governor’s Foundation Golf Tournament.
This year the District Governor is Gay Ratcliffe of the Wiarton club.
Co-chair of the 4-day conference Nick Torra says they expect between 300 and 400 Rotarians and their guests to take part in the workshop sessions at the CAW Conference Centre.
Torra says delegates are coming from throughout Southwestern Ontario and Eastern Michigan.
He says there is one special delegation coming from India.
Torra estimates the economic benefit to Saugeen Shores will be $250,000 over the 4-day period.
Torra says there are over 60 clubs in District 6330 and many of the clubs will be represented.
He says the whole idea of the conference is to rejuvenate Rotarians as they learn about the magnitude of the club and its workings world-wide.
The conference will continue until Sunday.
