Question period in the Ontario legislature is moving to mornings, and a local MPP isn’t impressed.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch has been a vocal opponent of the move from 1:30 in the afternoon, to morning sessions at 10:45, saying it does nothing but help MPP’s from Toronto.
The Liberals insist the new hours at the legislature, which start on Monday, will lead to better, more informed debates.
Conservative Lisa MacLeod first proposed changing the legislature’s hours by eliminating night sittings to make politics a more attractive career for young moms like her.
Bill Murdoch says it will bury Question Period … giving it far less attention in the media.
The local Tory MPP also took shots at his own leader, John Tory.
Murdoch says Tory should have done some horse trading on the back to work legislation for TTC workers, in order to amend this bill in the time of Question period in the legislature.
