Northern Bruce Peninsula is recognizing its Fire Chief for his 25 years of service.
Jack Burt was presented the Long Service Medal by Mayor Milt McIver on behalf of the Office of the Fire Marshal during a meeting on March 25.
CAO Peggy Van Mierlo-West says, “it is always great to see staff who have had that many years of service and have that passion for their profession to celebrate that many years.”
Burt was appointed to the role of Fire Chief for Northern Bruce Peninsula in May, 2021 after having served as Acting Deputy Fire Chief with the London Fire Department.
Since taking on the position, Burt has brought various recommendations to council related to fire fighting. These included reviving an automatic aid agreement with the Chippewas of Nawash Fire Department, and buying drones to not only assist in battling fires, but also help with other municipal departments.
