Huron Shores Hospice will be participating in Giving Tuesday this year and has already had a donation from Bruce Power to match the first $3,000 raised.
Founding Director Cheryl Cottrill says that they start their year-end campaign on Giving Tuesday, which is on November 28th this year.
She says that it’s even more special to have Bruce Power take part.
“It just makes such a tremendous difference and people love the matching sponsorship as well because it doubles the impact of their donations. We have $3,000 from them for Giving Tuesday, and $5,000 for the rest of the year.”
The funds raised are necessary for their operations, as it costs around $300 per day to run the suites they have.
“That money all goes towards making sure people are getting the care they need, and for special things like birthday celebrations, and anniversary celebrations.”
She says their campaign theme for this year is Love Never Dies, which starts with the story of a wedding that they were able to have at the hospice last year that they were able to put together in half a day.
In total, Huron Shores Hospice is hoping to raise $10,000 for Giving Tuesday alone and a total of $60,000 between Giving Tuesday, and their end-of-year campaign.
