Kincardine’s Community Services department is looking for volunteers to help make sure that local trails stay safe.
They’re looking for frequent users of the trails to be Trail Blazers — people who identify hazards or concerns on local trails and then report them back to the municipality.
Director of Community Services Jayne Jagelewski says that they’ve been working with some busy volunteers through the summer up to this point, and are now looking for more people to take part.
“Staff have been working closely with them as we progress with bringing the trails back to a state that we are accustomed to.”
She says that the program isn’t one that they invented themselves, but rather one that was adopted in other communities.
“Many individuals walk the trails every day with their dog on the same trail. And that’s another added set of eyes and ears on the trails to report back if they see hazards.”
The municipality says that the presence of these volunteers will help enhance the quality and safety of the trails.
Kincardine’s trails are an important part of the community as they are enjoyed by residents and tourists for hiking, cycling, and walking.
The Trail Blazers volunteer program provides an opportunity for the community and trail users to assist in keeping our trails safe and enjoyable for all.
