A Georgian Bluffs councillor wants the township to look into dark sky preservation policies.
A motion from Coun. Tobin Day will be discussed at Georgian Bluffs’ committee of the whole meeting Wednesday evening. It includes direction for staff to investigate dark sky preservation techniques and by-laws that could be implemented.
“Dark sky friendly lighting” that directs light downwards is highlighted as a potential consideration.
The motion also mentions Grey County’s official plan — Recolour Grey — which asks municipalities to include dark sky policies in local plans.
Township councillors will the discuss the issue at Wednesday evening’s committee of the whole meeting.
