Big plans are in the works for Canadian Tire in Port Elgin. In an exclusive interview with Beach News, Spokesperson for Canadian Tire Corporate, Lisa Gibson told us they hope to move the current store to the new Wal-Mart site, combined with a Mark’s Work Wearhouse. Gibson says at this point, site plan details are pending approval. Gibson says once those plans have been approved, she will be able to share more details with us. She expects approval to be given within a few weeks. Gibson has confirmed with us, the plan calls for their latest concept, of a combined Canadian Tire Store with Marks Work Wearhouse. Gibson says it will be great to have two Canadian names under one roof for residents to shop at. Gibson says the store will provide a greater selection of products and more of them, however can’t go into further details on the size of the store, and what will be carried. Local Owner Mike Mowbray tells us he and his family are ecstatic about the news. Mowbray is excited for the change, and can’t wait to offer the town what it needs through the new location. Wal-Mart is building a Super Centre at the South end of Port Elgin, and is expected to be open early next year. No time line is available for the Canadian Tire/Mark’s Work Wearhouse combo.
