The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie says the girders for the new Paisley Bridge are going to be installed soon, and that will temporarily affect downtown parking.
From Monday, March 13th to Wednesday, March 15th the south arena curling club parking lot will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
A Facebook Post from Arran-Elderslie says, “Paisley Freshmart has graciously offered extra parking at their grocery store.”
The roughly $10 million Paisley Bridge project is expected to be completed by September of this year. It started in May of 2022, and also involved the construction of a temporary detour route bridge to connect Goldie Street and Church Street.
Bruce County’s website says the new Paisley bridge will allow for more river clearance and will have a lifespan of about 75 years. It will have wider sidewalks than the old one and viewing areas near the centre of the bridge.
The old Teeswater River bridge was built in 1935.
