The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health says we should be more concerned about marijuana use.
CAM-H has found a steady increase in marijuana use among Ontario adults.
In fact, a study shows 14 per cent of Ontarians have admitted to cannabis use — and the average age of the user is 31 years old.
Senior Scientist Doctor Jurgen Rehm says they are more concerned about hazardous and harmful use of the drug.
The same study shows 4 per cent of marijuana users had feelings of guilt and also thought about injuring themselves.
The study also found more adults in Ontario are drinking alcohol and the rate of binge drinking has increased.
But fewer people are drinking and driving and fewer people are smoking cigarettes.
While Doctor Rehm says it’s great people are drinking and driving less, he is concerned people will smoke marijuana and drive now.
Doctor Rehm also notes Canadian adults still rank among the highest in marijuana and alcohol use in the world.
