OPSEU is holding an information picket at today’s board meeting for the Grey Bruce Health Unit. The union wants to highlight the contract dispute with its 26 office and clerical employees. OPSEU says the workers are paid 15 per cent less than their counterparts in other health units. The union has asked the Ministry of Labour for a “no board report” — which triggers the 17 day countdown to a legal strike date. The picket will take place from 11:30 AM to 2 o’clock at the health unit’s office in Owen Sound at 1st Avenue West and 9th Street. The workers are program assistants — working on vaccine, rabies, safe water, healthy babies and food programs.
