A proposal to close the core of Sauble Beach to vehicular traffic remains just that, a proposal.
South Bruce Peninsula Councillor Janice Jackson believes a pedestrian could work during the summer months.
The area affected would be from Second Avenue down to the Lakeshore and from Main Street, north to First Street.
Council debated the idea recently, and Mayor John Close says they asked for more input and discussion before going any further.
Close says nothing would happen this year, and if the town was to move ahead it would come up during budget discussions for 2012.
Close adds closing the core of Sauble Beach to cars and trucks would have an impact on the Saugeen First Nations portion of the beach and they would need to discuss that first before making any changes.
Jackson believes the move would make the area safer for families to walk around and it would increase foot-traffic into the various business.
