Bruce Power’s Security Competition team is among the best in the world — again.
The Tiverton based team recently returned from the Security Protection Officer Team Competition in Amarillo Texas with a first place team trophy for the 6th year in a row.
Coach John Latouf says their team continues to demonstrate it’s one of the best in the world.
The annual 20 team competition is sponsored by the U-S Department of Energy.
This is a tactical, physical and skills oriented firearms competition open to teams of security protection officers within the Department of Energy and by special invitation.
Latouf notes it’s an extremely intense competition held on a variety of courses over a four day period with events designed to test endurance and firearms accuracy.
There is a final event called “Super Team” — Latouf calls it a gruelling fifteen minute event involving speed, strength, agility, teamwork and firearms proficiency.
Bruce Power finished first in that competition with the highest points score.
In the team competition over the entire event, Bruce Power finished with six first place finishes and two second place finishes.
Latouf says they’ve also proven to be tremendous ambassadors for Bruce Power and Canada.
He notes the other teams look to Bruce Power as mentors.
